Virgin Money Cyclone

Client: Virgin Money Cyclone
Contact Period: December 2010 - January 2011

The Virgin Money Cyclone has been at forefront of cycling in the North East and is now firmly established as one of the biggest and most prestigious sporting events in the UK.

What we created

The Virgin Money Cyclone cycling event has been running now for a number of years, with this year’s 2011 Event being the 5th in succession. The event is a full weekend of cycling starting on Friday through to the Sunday. Event organiser Peter Harrison set out with a vision of creating one of the finest events on North East England’s calendar. Peter has achieved this and more with the event seeing continued year on year growth and public participation the event is now a talking point through the UK sporting community.

CentrumWEB have been involved in this project since the start. Peter first approached us with his idea of the event in late 2006. We had to work fast to create a site that met with Peter’s expectation, those of the events primary sponsor Northern Rock, and also satisfy the 1000s of events entrants.

Using CentrumCMS we created an entirely custom entry system. The entry system can easily handle the varied events and entry categories. Peter can easily manage the event entries and using the Email communication & marketing of our CentrumCMS Content Management Software entrants are kept informed on all event news and announcements. To make life easier, Peter is in complete control of the entire site’s content with all pages being fully editable using CentrumCMS, news articles, photo galleries and detailed website traffic reports are amongst the features available to Peter and have proven to be an integral part of the events success.

At the end of 2010 we started work on the latest incarnation of the website, a project that had to be timed with precision due to the launch occurring during the events entry period. The redesign went smoothly and added further to the extensive functionality of the site.

Search Engine visibility has been maximised using managed CentrumSEO which has saw exposure of the already popular site double in less than 12 months.

Project conclusion

CentrumWEB continue to work with the Virgin Money Cyclone through the year. The website has a life cycle that moves through opening for the year ahead’s entries, the run up to the event and the busy event reporting and result publication period. All entrants are able to visit the site to view their results and purchase their own personalised participation photograph. This is all done just in time to start work on preparing the sites re-opining for the following year’s event.

We continue to maximise on Search Engine Optimisation using CentrumSEO with regular reviews of site exposure and performance.

What Virgin Money Cyclone says

"Before speaking with CentrumWEB we had a website that just didn’t serve our stakeholders.

We needed an online entry form which would easily serve over 5000 riders, a website that would not only work for our users, but our corporate sponsors “Northern Rock”

There were high expectations to deliver a corporate level website that could deliver these results. CentrumWEB delivered the solution that not only serves our community of riders, but makes the management of events and information a simple, straightforward task."

WHAT CLIENTS ARE SAYING
"When we decided to launch a new internet store we were very pleased to be on board with Centrum. From the first meeting we were put at ease about the process and all our questions were answered without any problems.
Within a few weeks of our first meeting we had our website ready to populate with products which we were very please with. Working with the content management system was a lot easier than other systems we used with previous websites. They layout is easy to work and was thoroughly explained how to us.
We love the final look of the site, It matches our company ethos of style and quality. The site is really easy for our customers to use which is paramount. Since launching we have been overwhelmed with the number of orders and enquiries we have been receiving through it and it has became another outlet for our customers as well as ourselves."

Northern Rock Cyclone
"CentrumWEB are one of the most professional web media companies I have worked with.
They have never missed a deadline, partly because unlike other web companies they do not start any part of a project until they thoroughly understand the objectives. Communication and progress updates are excellent."
Brian Smith
Braveheart Cycling Fund
"CentrumWEB were recommended to us by a local charity that we support. Now at the end of the development I understand why!
From consultation to design right through to implementation we were never let down. I would have no hesitation in making the same recommendation to anyone looking to implement a new web solution. The end result is a company website that I can control and influence giving me the power to drive my online presence forward. "
Donald Ritchie
Ritchies Training Centre
"Having dealt with CentrumWEB for a larger corporate project we felt that it was time to give our own tired, unmanageable website a complete upgrade, again the CentrumWEB team delivered a solution that was on time, within budget and served the needs of our members."
